Part:BBa_K3933014
Lactate dehydrogenase regulated by a Manganese riboswitch
This part is a composite part composed of a constitutive promoter, a manganese riboswitch, a RBS, a lactate dehydrogenase and a terminator. It is an adaptation of the Cobatect project other purposes than detecting vitamin B12 but could not be tested in the lab.
More details on (BBa_K902074) , but we tried to sum up some information found on this page here : The manganese riboswitch belongs to the yybP-ykoY – family. MntR regulates manganese homeostasis by inhibiting the manganese importer MntH and upregulating MntP, a putative manganese efflux pump. This permits transcription, but manganese binding to the riboswitch is required for the manganese efflux pump MntP to be translated and expressed. MntR also suppresses the expression of MntH, a manganese importer. This downregulation ends when there isn't enough manganese in the cell, and manganese is brought into the cell. At the same time, the riboswitch blocks mntP translation, resulting in a reduction in MntP manganese export.
